When decorating an impressive balcony, start with covering the railing. A wicker, technorattan, or fabric mat will provide you with more privacy and protect you from wind and sun.Delicate balcony curtains will also work well – you can hang them on strings or mount them on a curtain rod attached to the ceiling.
The floor makes a huge difference, and changing it doesn't require complicated work. You can lay on tiles:
- composite click decking – it is weather-resistant and looks elegant,
- artificial grass – it will warm up the space and add pleasant softness underfoot,
- a cozy outdoor rug – it is moisture-resistant and easy to clean.
Utilize walls and ceilings. Ceiling hooks will allow you to mount hanging pots, macrame, or even a light hanging chair. Don't want to drill? Opt for self-adhesive hooks or decorative grids to which you can attach climbing plants.
Also reach for decorative accessories. Lanterns for candles, string lights, and delicate LED lamps hung on the railing will create a moody atmosphere after dark. If you want to add more light, opt for solar lamps or wall lights with a twilight sensor that turn on automatically. Balcony mirrors will also be a great accent – they can optically enlarge the space and reflect light, making the balcony appear brighter.
Practical accessories also include textiles – waterproof cushions and throws will make the space much cozier and more comfortable, and they can also be easily changed to suit the season. It's worth adding wicker baskets, which will not only be an aesthetic accent but also help maintain order when storing blankets and small accessories.
