Jars in the kitchen still bring to mind our grandmothers and mothers, for whom preparing compotes, bigos, and other vegetable, meat, and fruit preserves was a way to prepare supplies of their own food, natural and always at hand. Today, although there are still many lovers of canning and making homemade jams, glass jars have changed their image somewhat. Some are still used for storing food, but they also have a decorative function.

Coffee, tea, or maybe candies?

A small decorative jar made of thick glass with a tight-fitting lid costs PLN 10 at Pepco. A larger one, with a significant capacity, costs only PLN 10 more. In this type of jar, you can store products with a longer shelf life on the countertop, but those that cannot be exposed to moisture. They are great for storing coffee beans, loose tea, candies, or cookies. The appearance of the jars is original and extremely aesthetic, so they don't have to be hidden in cabinets, but can be displayed on the kitchen countertop or table.

What is the alternative to such jars? In the larger ones, you can even make a Christmas decoration or a mini garden with succulents and real moss. Thus, Pepco's kitchen jars for food storage become home decorations.

Mini jars for spices

All dried spices are extremely aromatic, provided that they are kept tightly closed. If you use thyme, rosemary, basil, cinnamon, pepper, dried ginger, chili, or other food additives in your kitchen, you can use mini jars with screw-on lids. Small jars at Pepco cost PLN 3–5 and can be placed in drawers, on shelves, on countertops, with the lid facing up or forward. Simply label the jars with labels, and you can enjoy perfect order in your spices. Spices packaged this way will not lose their aroma or absorb moisture, and will remain edible for longer. The bags in which we buy them are not suitable for storing herbs and spices for a long time.

Jars for dry goods

Every home has dry goods with a long shelf life that are susceptible to seemingly invisible insects. Food moths develop very quickly and infest kitchen cabinets and drawers. Their development in the kitchen means that all supplies must be thrown away and the furniture thoroughly cleaned. That is why it is so important to use airtight glass jars for storing pasta, rice, groats, breakfast cereals, and flours. Jars for food at Pepco with an aesthetic glossy lid cost from PLN 2 to 3. Square jars are available, which are easy to stack in a drawer, and round jars, ideal for hiding deep in cabinets. When choosing jars for food storage, we can select them in sizes that suit our needs, and effectively protect the food from moths and moisture. Just remember to transfer dry goods to clean and dry jars from Pepco immediately after bringing them from the store.

Time for preserves — jars for canning

In times when food prices are constantly rising, we gladly return to making homemade preserves. In season, when vegetables and fruits are cheaper, you can make supplies for the winter months and enjoy the unique taste of homemade dishes. However, you need to stock up on airtight jars with lids that are suitable for pasteurization. At Pepco, they cost about PLN 3 and are available in various sizes. You can thus prepare lecso, pickled peppers, homemade ketchup, jams, and fruit compotes. Jars are not single-use; they can be used for years, which is also very ecological. Lids are less durable if we open them by prying with a knife, but there is a solution for that too — if they run out, a set of 10 new lids costs about PLN 2. So it's not a big cost, and the possibility of having homemade preserves really saves money spent on supermarket food.

Those who missed typical canning jars, i.e., jars with a snap-on lid sealed with a rubber ring, can also buy them at Pepco. Such jars for food storage are suitable not only for jams and preserves but also for sugar, salt, flour, pasta, and other dry goods that need to be protected from moisture and kitchen insects.

Enjoy, or a drink from a jar with a straw

Another type of jar delights customers at Pepco. A jar with a lid and a reusable straw is perfect for drinking cold beverages. Beautiful jars with handles will replace mugs; you can drink lemonade, cordial, fruit juice, frappé, or other iced coffee from them. This solution is not only for adults but also for children, as it is comfortable to drink through a straw and nothing spills. These types of jars, when they became fashionable, cost up to PLN 30 in other stores. At Pepco, you can buy them for as little as PLN 2. The price difference is amazing, and they look just as charming! It's time to give up plastic cups and choose ecological drinking jars.
