As many as 5 good practices of Pepco have been included in the latest edition of the "Responsible Business in Poland 2023. Good Practices" report, prepared for over twenty years by the Responsible Business Forum.
– This is an important distinction, emphasizing that our commitment to promoting corporate social responsibility (CSR) is effective and appreciated. As a company that has been developing its ESG strategy for years, we presented our latest projects that have a real impact on the community and the environment, confirming our role in shaping responsible business in the country– comments Kasia Wilczewska, Head of Corporate Communication Pepco.
The activities included in the report demonstrate how Pepco integrates sustainability and social responsibility principles into its business strategy, serving as an example for other enterprises.
Social Innovations for Better Family Communication
One of the key projects for which Pepco was recognized is a study aimed at understanding the dynamics of communication in Polish families. The challenge was to identify communication barriers and needs between parents and children, which resulted in the social campaign "Home Starts with the Heart" promoting healthy family relationships and the preparation of a report with the participation of experts from non-governmental organizations supporting children and youth. The study and campaign made media, opinion leaders, and Pepco customers aware that adults do not always understand the complex world of children's emotions, and every child and teenager has the right to be heard, understood, and accepted. The campaign was accompanied by downloadable game cards from the campaign website, designed to facilitate home conversations – as an encouragement for discussion and help in addressing a real social problem.
Support for Young Patients
Pepco also joined in supporting the Mother and Child Health Institute in Łódź, providing a donation of a quarter of a million PLN for the renovation of a room in the pediatric ward. Thanks to this support, a modern educational playroom for hospitalized children was created. This initiative provides children with a safe space for learning and play, helping them forget the difficulties associated with their illness. Additionally, Pepco store employees from the Łódź region helped equip the playroom with educational games and toys, plush toys, coloring books, and stationery for children.
Commitment to Promoting Children's Rights and Business Ethics
Pepco actively participated in the development of the Children's Rights in Business Charter, being one of its first signatories. The company also emphasizes the importance of ethical business practices, which is reflected in its "Ethical Code of Conduct."
Appreciating Employees and Promoting Diversity
The Pepcoolture Masters initiative is another example of Pepco's focus on employee development and appreciation, promoting company values and building a positive organizational culture. The annual program aims to recognize individuals who exceptionally implement actions consistent with Pepco's values in their work.
Combining Initiatives for Sustainable Development
In all countries where Pepco operates, the company invests in social projects for children, financing them from the sale of shopping bags and charity teddy bears, while offering customers reusable shopping bags made from recycled materials (e.g., EcoLoop bags made from processed plastic waste contain at least 80% recycled raw materials). As a result, several million PLN are donated annually to local public benefit organizations involved in child development and education.
