Better Cotton is one of the largest non-governmental organizations supporting environmentally friendly and socially responsible cotton farming. In the years 2019-2020 alone, BC trained 2.4 million farmers worldwide in more sustainable agricultural practices in terms of reducing water consumption, caring for soil and natural habitats, reducing pesticide use, and caring for the well-being and rights of workers.
Pepco is the first company from Poland to be part of this initiative.
Soon you will be able to find products marked with this logo on our shelves. However, the Better Cotton logo does not automatically mean that the product is made (entirely) of BCI cotton. This is because cotton sourced through BC is mixed with other cotton on its way from the field to the final product. BC calls this the "mass balance system". Just like when buying renewable energy: by buying green energy, you contribute to the development of cleaner energy production, without ensuring that only such energy will flow into your socket every time.
At Pepco, we have committed to sourcing 25% of our cotton through the Better Cotton program by 2025.
By sourcing cotton through BC, we contribute to raising cotton production standards, and we also help farmers and the local environment. Read more at: bettercotton.org
